€450k in Technology Grants for Local Secondary Schools

Secondary schools in Dublin North East shall receive more than €450, 000 in technology grants from the Government in order to purchase computers, digital projectors and other I.T. equipment.

The grant each school shall received shall depend upon the number of students it has.

Each school shall receive a basic grant of €1,700 plus €63.45 per student.

Based on the enrolment figures published on the Department of Education’s website, the estimated amounts to be received by local schools in Sutton are as follows:

Sutton Park School, Sutton - €18,768
St. Fintan’s High School, Sutton - €42,562
Santa Sabina Dominican College, Sutton - €39,516

Free Local Business Advice Evenings

The Get Ireland Working Team is an independent, not for profit, organisation aimed at helping to create jobs by providing business people and potential business people with advice and support.

Once a month, they organise local advice evenings whereby a team of experienced volunteer business experts offer free advice to both S.M.E. business owners / managers, as well those considering starting an business.

Advice is available in the areas of Business planning, Sales, Marketing, Finance, HR and Tax.

Representatives from the local Social Welfare Office will also be there to assist in any way possible.

The next free drop-in evenings are as follows:
- 8th November 2010: Naomh Barróg G.A.A. Club at 8pm;
- 7th December 2010l: Suttonians Rugby Club at 8pm.

Minister for Fisheries visits Howth

The Minister for Fisheries, Sean Connick T.D., visited Howth harbour on Tuesday, 12th October 2010 to witness firsthand many of the issues affecting the fishing and marine community in the Howth and Sutton area.

He met with the Howth Sutton Community Council, the Harbourmaster, the Howth Boating and Sailing Club and seafood busineses located in the area. He also made short visits to many of the businesses on the West Pier.

The Minister showed a very impressive understanding of the challenges facing the fishing and marine communities nationally and dedicated a lot of time to learning about the specific issues in the area.

Carer's Support Coffee Morning

The Crosscare Carers Coffee Morning shall take place in Baldoyle Library on Thursday, 21st October 2010 from 10:30 am until 12pm.

This is open to all carers in the Sutton, Baldoyle and neighboring areas.

Baldoyle Song and Dance Youth Theatre presents, Jesus Christ Superstar by Andrew LLoyd Webber and Tim Rice from Wednesday, 27th October 2010 until Friday, 29th October 2010.

Shows commence at 8pm on each day and take place in St. Mary’s Secondary School, Baldoyle.

This is SDYT's fifth annual performance, featuring many rising stars of Irish theatre.
